Arts Centre (Centre for National Culture)
Popular location for visitors looking to pick up bargain crafts and souvenirs.
Also known as the Centre for National Culture, this is a popular location for visitors looking to pick up bargain crafts and souvenirs. You’ll reach the main part of the market first, an area covered by a large roof and filled with stall after stall crammed with textiles, carvings, bags, clothing, instruments and jewellery. This initial section of the market can be quite intense, and you can expect to be followed around by guys touting poor-quality masks. It’s best to head further into the complex, which is not only much quieter but holds more interesting treasures such as metal ornaments, drums, wood furnishing, antique pieces and leather goods. Bargaining is a way of life here, so have fun and have in mind what you want to spend first.
