Afrodesiac’s contemporary designs have received an enthusiastic welcome around the world since the fashion and lifestyle label’s 2008 launch, with many of its statement jumpsuits and dresses having helped to fan a newfound appreciation of Ankara wax-print fabric. As well as sourcing all of its fabrics in Ghana, the company repurposes the country’s pre-colonial-era coins in the production of its acclaimed jewellery, with a portion of profits from sales going towards initiatives that empower girls in Africa by providing scholarships and access to educational resources. The recent Kimono Collection sees distinctive African prints fused with traditional Japanese silhouettes to dazzling effect.
