ANO Institute of Arts and Knowledge
ANO is an Accra-based arts institution.
Founded as a research platform in 2002, ANO is an Accra-based arts institution that has been involved in numerous collaborations, publications, films, exhibitions and events, working with international institutions like LACMA in Los Angeles and London’s Tate Modern. The organisation’s dedicated physical space is the fulfilment of the long-time dream of ANO’s founder, Ghanaian art historian, writer and filmmaker Nana Oforiatta Ayim. It encompasses an art gallery and a workshop and screening space, alongside a research centre and library. While the events programme has been curtailed since Covid hit, pre-pandemic initiatives included taking a small, kiosk-sized gallery on the road to showcase artworks and cultural artefacts to Ghanaians who would otherwise not have had a chance to see them. Check the website for the full line-up of upcoming group and solo shows.
